Covenants are relationships God establishes with people on the basis of his promises ... a series of treaties or agreements that God has made with his people at different stages in their history.
Typically, covenants contain promises that will be fulfilled if God's people remain faithful to Him, but you will see that even if they do not, they will never be completely abrogated.
Where does this leave the modern Christian who believes that they have replaced Israel in God's plan? This needs to be thought about by many within your denominations.
There is a fine line to be walked here...or more accurately, narrow gate to find, and apparently few find it.
Two Types of Covenants
Conditional: a proposal from God characterized by the formula, "if you will, then I will". Failure to obey results in punishment. Conditional covenants bring either blessings or curses.
Unconditional: a unilateral promise as a sovereign act of God - He unconditionally obligates Himself to bring to pass definite blessings and conditions for the covenanted people. This covenant is characterized by the formula, "I will".

We can see that Abraham's inheritance was slowly gained over time after each time he chose to obey this God, a God different from his childhood gods. This indicates a growth in relationship. With the above chronology of this inheritance, it would seem that it was complete but later on in Genesis 17:1-21, we see the covenants reiterated and combined into one as a summary covenant. This was convenient for second testament authors but was an addition to the covenant(s) and added a condition to the reiterated promise. This condition was also unatainable to those who did not get circumsised on the 8th day after thier birth. Abrahams promises are now dependent on an act. This is possibly where the doctrine of works began and why there seems to be different accounts of the same events in subsequent chapters..just reinerated.

Different theories place the origin of the Sumerians farther east in Elam, the Indus River valley in present-day India, or under the current Persian Gulf. The waters of the gulf encroached upon the river valley in the late fifth millennium, reaching its present coastline circa 4000 BC. If the last theory is correct, the Sumerians moved northward into the Babylonian valley escaping the flooding land. Because no one has identified Sumerian culture and language outside Mesopotamia, the question of origin remains undecided.

The Israelite 7 Feast Days
The Feast of Weeks is connected to the Feast of Unleavened Bread, which is connected to Passover. All three Spring Holy days follow each other starting with Passover on the 14th day of Abib, FUB on the 15th and the FOW on the 16th, which begins the countdown to Pentecost.
Passover Leviticus 23:5 - is celebrated as a reminder that Yeshua (Jesus) died to pay the penalty of our sins during His First Advent. The angel of death passed over the Israelite's houses that were covered with the blood of the Passover Lamb.
Romans 4:7 Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
Feast of Unleavened Bread Leviticus 23:6 - A reminder to keep pure, not letting sin in. When Yahweh (God) delivered the Israelites out from bondage He gave them the law and Feast Days to help them walk in the right way and to remember that He chose them. Continuing to obey the Word of Yahweh (God), is part of the commandments and connected to the Feast Days.
John 5:14 Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.
2Thessalonians 1:8 (Yahshua will be returning with His malakiym-angels...) In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Master Yahshua Christ:
1Peter 4:17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?
Feast of Weeks/Wave Sheaf/Feast of Firstfruits Leviticus 23:10 - The Gospel is celebrated along with the resurrection of Yeshua (Jesus) the Christ from the dead. It is symbolic of the first fruits of Yahweh's (God's) calling and begins the 50-day countdown to Pentecost.
Pentecost Leviticus 23:15 - The Gospel is celebrated on Pentecost because when we do that which is right in the sight of Yahweh (God), you receive the Holy Spirit, which is promised to those who obey Him.
Acts 5:32 And we are His witnesses of these things; and also the Holy Spirit, whom God hath given to them that obey Him.
Feast of Trumpets Leviticus 23:24 - The Trumpet is a warning and call to preparation that Yeshua is coming. Time to repent for the reign of Yeshua is near.
Ezekiel 33:7 So you, O son of Adam, I have set you a watchman unto the house of Israel;
therefore you shall hear the word from My mouth, and warn them for Me.
Day of Atonement Leviticus 23:27 - A time to repent, and to fast, which means to humble yourselves and deny food, water, and worldly things for the day. Repentance is required in order to give yourself over to Christ.
Matthew 4:17 From that time, Yeshua (Jesus) began to preach and to say Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
Feast of Tabernacles followed by The Last Great Day Leviticus 23:34 - The Feast of Tabernacles is a time to atone and repent. After you are now cleansed and can dwell in the safety of Christ. It is a reminder of when Yahweh (God) dwelt among our Israelite ancestors in the wilderness in tents, a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. It is also symbolic that we will dwell in safety when He returns in flaming fire.
Exodus 29:45 And I will dwell among the children of Israel and will be their God.
Psalm 61:4 I will abide in Your tabernacle forever: I will trust in the covert of Your wings. Selah.
1 John 2:28 And now, little children, abide in Him; that, when He shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before Him at His coming.
Every Feast Day is a part of the Gospel message, a message of regathering and reconciliation, education and teaching for all Israelites, both in Jerusalem and scattered around the world.
When The Gospel is preached, its message is to the children of Israel, because every one of these Feast Days is part of the plan of reunification between scattered Israelites and Yahweh (God).
Matthew 10:6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
that Yeshua (Jesus) held them accountable to. Daniel 9 and many other 'helps' like the solar calendar with the festivals were left to help calculate the first coming of Yeshua (Jesus) so when the Sadducees (government) and Pharisees (love God but...) rejected Yeshua as the Messiah there was no excuse. This is between them and God and we support them on their journey. Perhaps we should be concentrating on making sure Luke 19:43-44 does happen to us. There are many scriptures that allude to the possibility of this happening to those who are sleeping or drunk.
“In the days ahead your enemies will encircle you and close in on you from every side. You will be crushed and trampled down, along with all your children. Every lodge will fall, and not even one pole, log, or stone will be left standing against another. All of this will happen because you did not know it was your time for the Great Spirit to visit you.”

Salvation is by call & faith alone (this one alone is going to bring much contention but I believe that having the wrong theology on this one is a huge problem as Christians have and still try to forcibly 'convert' unbelievers which only compounds the brewing hatred within that individual as the Christian come about it in a self-righteous manner.
